Bachelorette Weekend in Myrtle Beach

Where did we stay?

Our group of 18 stayed a half hour south of Myrtle Beach in an area called Murrells Inlet. This area has a different feel than downtown, but there’s still a lot to do. We rented a house through Airbnb that slept more than 16 guests equipped with 6 bedrooms and baths right across the street from the beach. This coastal oasis had a game room, balcony views, hot tub, shared pool, free parking and a minute walk to the beach. It was the perfect spot to lounge with our large group that was accessible to activities.

What did we do?

Since most of our group drove overnight, we had time to kill until we could check-in to our Airbnb. We got some drinks at the Garden City Pier that was down the road from the house. It was a windy day, but there was karaoke going on so we enjoyed ourselves. The rest of the group was joining from the Myrtle Beach Airport and met us at the pier.

The first night we did the famous Instagram trend of dressing up as a famous person with the same name as the groom to be. In our case, the name was Michael or Mike. We went to a local bar, Garden City BeachBar and Grill, where there was yet again karaoke but offered a nice outdoor space in the back.

On Friday morning, we experienced hurricane effects from Milton, so we stayed indoors for the first half of the day. The bride invited a medium (Messages with Missy) to come to the house and do our readings with Oracle cards. I’ve never had a reading done before and it was a unique experience.

When the weather cleared up, we got ready for our dinner reservation at Wicked Tuna Grill which offers waterfront dining. There was a lot to do nearby, so we bar hopped at Uncle Titos, Dead DogSaloon, Tuna Shack, and ended the night at Hot Fish Club. This is a vibrant area and would recommend coming here at least one night.

The following day was our beach and pool day since the weather cleared up. We walked across the street to Garden City Beach and spent a majority of that day relaxing. We grabbed dinner that evening at The Quay Seafood Grille since it was right next to the house and could watch college football. The food was normal bar food but it offered a cool view and a wide selection of beverages.

What was the weather like?

Normally in September, the weather is ideal due to the summer season being over. It was busy without being overly crowded which made it easier to get reservations and go places without having to wait. Though the weather is usually nice, it is still during hurricane season so you have to be cautious of the cancellation policy for where you are staying.

Would you rent a car?

We had several cars since a few groups chose to drive instead of fly. With that said, it is a manageable driving destination from Columbus, but plan on spending at least 10 hours in the car. Depending on what you’d like to do, renting a car might be cost effective but we mostly used Uber or Lyft to get around. Many of our chosen activities were located rather close to the house we rented.

Would you recommend for a future bachelorette trip?

Yes, there is a lot to do in the area depending on what the bride wants. It would also be a great destination for a relaxing beachy weekend for a low-maintenance bride. Overall, everyone enjoyed the trip and makes a relatively inexpensive bachelorette weekend.
